New Delhi: Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, on Monday criticized the government over the alleged police action against students, asserting that Parliament is supreme and that the Council of Ministers is responsible for informing the House about all major developments in the country.
Speaking on the issue, Tiwari alleged that innocent students were subjected to baton charges and that female protesters were mistreated during the protests. He said that in such circumstances, the government must be held accountable.
Demanding a response from the Centre, Tiwari said Union Home Minister Amit Shah should make a statement in Parliament and explain the government’s position on the incident.
